In this episode, we walk through 1 Kings 18:30 through 38 and look at Elijah repairing the altar of the Lord on Mount Carmel. The altar was not required for God to answer by fire, but it became the place where the people were called near, the sacrifice was laid down, the water was poured out, and God’s power was put on display.
This message confronts a hard reality in today’s church. The altar has often been abused, manipulated, or neglected. But abuse does not mean abandonment. It means repair. The altar has no saving power. Jesus alone saves. But it can still be a meaningful place of repentance, surrender, prayer, and honest response to God.
Noah shows us the altar of worship. Carmel shows us the altar repaired. Now the church must recover a right kind of altar. Not idolized. Not pressured. Not performed. But used as a place where hearts respond to the God who still calls His people back.
